Report: Stars’ Norstrom plans to retire

STOCKHOLM, Sweden — Dallas Stars defenceman Mattias Norstrom is retiring, Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet reported Tuesday.
“Dallas wanted to keep me, but it is over now,” the 36-year old Swede was quoted as saying on the newspaper’s website. “I promised myself 10 years ago that I would quit while I still had a strong position in the team. And now it is over.”

Stars sign Daley for three more years

FRISCO, Texas — The Dallas Stars have locked up one of their best young players.
The NHL team announced Wednesday that it re-signed defenceman Trevor Daley to a US$6.9-million, three-year contract. He earned $800,000 last year.

Wings try to close out Stars again

Just a few days ago, the Red Wings were still in a span of being undefeated for almost a month, owning the NHL’s longest postseason winning streak in 15 years and doing it with flair. Three games into the Western Conference finals, they hadn’t even trailed the Dallas Stars for a single second. All they had to do was win once more to seal a spot in the Stanley Cup finals.

Ott signs two-year extension with Stars

FRISCO, Tex. — Steve Ott is sticking with the Stars.
Dallas re-signed the centre to a two-year contract worth US$2.85 million ($1.35 million in ‘08-09 and $1.5 million in ‘09-10) through the 2009-10 season.

Robidas’ toughness saves the Stars

DALLAS — Sergei Zubov was already out with an injury. Then Philippe Boucher went down, too. So the Dallas Stars cringed when Stephane Robidas, another reliable defenceman, took a puck off his face and rushed straight to the dressing room during Game 5 of their first-round playoff series against the Anaheim Ducks.
