SAN JOSE, Calif. — Rob Blake is heading up the California coast, hoping to end his stellar NHL career with a shot at another Stanley Cup title in San Jose.

The veteran defenceman signed a US$5-million, one-year contract with the Sharks on Friday, leaving Pacific Division rival Los Angeles for a more immediate chance at playoff success.

Roenick agrees to return to Sharks
SAN JOSE, Calif. — Jeremy Roenick agreed to a one-year contract Wednesday to return to the San Jose Sharks after his revitalizing comeback season with the club.

Roenick, a 19-year veteran, had 14 goals and 19 assists for the Sharks after coming out of semi-retirement for another shot at the Stanley Cup. The nine-time all-star became the third American-born player to score 500 career goals in early November, and the sometimes outspoken forward earned praise for his quiet veteran leadership and steady play.
