Senators open 40 game schedule on Sportsnet

The Sportsnet schedule has something for all Senators fans including 11 match-ups versus divisional rivals and 10 against Canadian-based teams. Selected games will be presented in HD. This season marks the 10th consecutive year that Sportsnet has broadcast Senators Hockey.

Young Pens shut down in Game 1

DETROIT — It’s one thing for Evgeni Malkin to be shut out on the scoreboard. But when the Pittsburgh Penguins star is also helping the other team score, than you know it’s been a bad night.

Malkin’s turnover right in front of his own net 2:16 into the third period led to Mikael Samuelsson’s back-breaking, 2-0 goal Saturday night and capped what was a forgettable night for the Russian centre in Detroit’s 4-0, Game 1 victory in the Stanley Cup final.

Penguins Roberts will play in Game 2
Roberts was visibly upset after Penguins head coach Michel Therrien told him he wouldn’t be in the lineup for the opening game Saturday night.

“Obviously, I’m not happy about it but I’m going to let Mike talk about why I’m not playing,” Roberts told the Canadian Press.

Concussion keeps Franzen from Game 5
DETROIT — Detroit centre Johan Franzen will miss his fourth straight game when the Red Wings face Dallas in Game 5 of the Western Conference final Saturday.

Detroit general manager Ken Holland says Franzen has been cleared for light workouts. But Holland says Franzen would need to practise with the team for a few days before returning to the lineup.

VOORHEES, N.J. — Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Braydon Coburn is doubtful for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals after taking a puck in the face on Sunday night.

Coburn’s left eye was swollen shut after a deflected puck hit him early in the Flyers’ 4-2 loss at Pittsburgh on Sunday. There was no structural damage to his face, but the blow opened a cut that required over 50 stitches to close.

Roberts won't suit up for Game 3
Gary Roberts is ready to return to the Pittsburgh Penguins lineup, but the veteran winger will not suit up for Game 3 at Madison Square Garden tonight.

Roberts has missed the last four playoff games with a groin injury. But with the Penguins winning all four of those games, head coach Michel Therrien is reluctant to tinker with a lineup that is clearly firing on all cylanders.
