ANAHEIM, Calif. — Randy Carlyle, who coached the Anaheim Ducks to the Stanley Cup championship in 2007, signed a two-year extension Wednesday.
Financial terms were not announced.

Oil sign Horcoff to six-year extension

Shawn Horcoff has worn only one NHL sweater his entire career. So when it came to thinking about his future, it was a no-brainer.
The Edmonton Oilers secured their top offensive threat Wednesday, signing Horcoff to a US$33-million, six-year contract extension.

Lightning sign goalie Smith to extension

TAMPA, Fla. — The Tampa Bay Lightning signed goalie Mike Smith to a US$4.4-million, two-year extension on Monday.
Smith, 26, went 15-19-0 with a 2.59 goals-against average and a .901 save percentage in 34 games last season with Tampa Bay and Dallas. He was acquired at the trade deadline in a deal that sent all-star forward Brad Richards to the Stars.

Babcock rewarded with 3-year extension

DETROIT — Mike Babcock’s new contract allows the oldest of his three children to graduate from the same high school she’s attending.
And if all goes well with the Detroit Red Wings over the next three years, Babcock’s younger two kids likely will get the same opportunity.

Extension ends Vigneault speculation

VANCOUVER — Head coach Alain Vigneault has been given a chance to get the Vancouver Canucks back on track.
Vigneault, who was entering the final season of his current deal, was given a one-year contract extension Thursday by new general manager Mike Gillis that will keep him with the NHL team through 2009-2010.

Panthers give GM Martin extension

Martin, 55, joined the Florida Panthers organization in May of 2004 as the club?s head coach, before assuming the duties of the club?s general manager on Sept. 3, 2006. Since taking over the reigns as general manager, Martin has been responsible for re-tooling the Panthers roster by re-signing numerous key players, along with acquiring key free agent acquisitions. Most notably, he acquired goaltender Tomas Vokoun in a trade at the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, as well as signing center Stephen Weiss, right wing Nathan Horton and defenseman Bryan Allen to long term contract extensions last year.

Ott signs two-year extension with Stars

FRISCO, Tex. — Steve Ott is sticking with the Stars.
Dallas re-signed the centre to a two-year contract worth US$2.85 million ($1.35 million in ‘08-09 and $1.5 million in ‘09-10) through the 2009-10 season.
